TEN THINGS WE KNOW TO BE THE WILL OF GOD

1 John 2:17 tells us to do the will of God. This will overcome the problems of worldliness (vs. 16) and it will give us a sense of investment (vs. 17b). That means we must start by doing what we know to be the will of God for all believers. Check the following list:

1. It is the will of God that we dedicate our lives. - Romans 12:1-2
2. It is the will of God that people be saved. - 2 Peter 3:9 Are you involved in reaching people for Christ?
3. It is the will of God that we be spiritually self-sustaining. - 1 Thess. 5:18
4. It is the will of God that we live the Christian life. - 1 Thess. 4:3 - We have an illustration here. If we are living the Christian life, we don't have to do what comes naturally but we can overcome our area of weakness.
5. It is the will of God that we submit to authority. - 1 Peter 2:15 - "Roast Pastor" is not an acceptable Sunday meal and is a violation of both 1 Thess. 5:12-13 and Hebrews 13:7-8.
6. It is the will of God that we handle difficulty. - 1 Peter 2:21
7. It is the will of God that we believe. - 1 John 3:23
8. It is the will of God that we grow. - 1 Tim. 2:3-4
9. It is the will of God that we recognize that success is not necessarily proof that you are doing the will of God. - 1 Peter 4:19 - It is possible to be in the midst of difficult times and be doing the will of God.
10. It is the will of God that we not follow our old Adamic nature, but rather the Holy Spirit. - 1 Peter 4:2 - Every day, we have the choice of letting the Holy Spirit run us or our old Adamic nature. - Romans 6:13 and Romans 8:13 teach this basic choice.
